Christmas in Texas 2025

This Christmas I flew to San Antonio to see my family, Theres always fun things to do around the holidays, and this year we did even more!

first up was of course the Pearl Brewery, which is a new outdoor mall mixed use space in downtown san Antonio on the river walk.

The next day, we all pitched in and built the original 1994 K’nex roller coaster! it actually worked this time thanks to carefully following the instructions and building it on solid ground.

Christmas Eve, we went to the riverwalk, which was magical as ever, I love all the pretty lights and boats!

Here’s my mom, my brother and I outside the Esquire!

The next day we celebrated Christmas at my mom’s place with a few of the Salyards.

then we went to Victoria’s house for Christmas and enjoyed seeing our cousins.

On the 26th, My dad, my brother and I headed over to San Antonios newest museum, SAMSAT Area 21, which is a center for the all the new tech innovators that are out by the Port of San Antonio. In addition to all the defense contractors, San Antonio is now a major hub for Cyber security. We got to play with the flight sims as well, my brother and I few F-18s!

After that we went to Mission San Jose, which is one of the 5 UNESCO world heritage sites in San Antonio. This is the most intact and preserved mission, and I think it would make a good Counterstrike map.

Inside the chapel is a fully functioning church.

The following day we went to Cedar Ridge, which is a target range just north of San Antonio to shoot some of my dad’s firearms. we mostly played with the pistols. They had some pretty cool metal targets that you could reset by pulling a rope.

One of my favorite things to do in San Antonio is to visit the Japanese tea gardens, This is a wonderful garden built inside an old gravel pit.

And the very last thing I did before heading out was visit my hometown of Boerne Texas, where they have a lovely vintage Mainstreet. It was all decked out with Christmas stuff.
